6月オンライン月例会「これからの中国、米中、日中」―川島真東大教授に聞く
2020年6月29日、Zoom会議システムによるオンライン月例会を開催した。今回は、アジア政治外交史や中国外交史をご専門にされている東京大学総合文化研究科教授の川島 真教授をお招きし、「これからの中国、米中、日中」をテーマにお話を伺った。
新型コロナウイルス感染症に始まり、今世界から注目を集めている中国の動向について、共産党による内政と外交政策についてや、香港・台湾をめぐる問題について語られた。また、経済だけでなく５Gなどの通信技術、軍事競争などあらゆる面で対立している米中関係について、今後の米国大統領選挙による影響も含めて、覇権争いの読み解き方を解説いただいた。そして最後には、参加者からの質問にもお答えいただき、米中・日米・日中関係の今後についても議論された。今まさに目が離せない問題について、中国情勢に詳しい川島先生からの話を伺うことができ、大変有意義な会となった。7月の月例会もオンラインで配信予定。
The America-Japan Society organized a Virtual Monthly Program on June 29th, 2020, welcoming Dr. Shin Kawashima, Professor of International Relations at the University of Tokyo. He is known for his expertise in the history of Asian political diplomacy and China’s foreign policy. Dr. Kawashima was invited to speak on the theme of China, the U.S., and Japan Relations.
Professor Kawashima dealt with the various issues both on the domestic and international policy of China, and its move against Hong Kong and Taiwan. As for the rising tensions between the U.S. and China as trade frictions and technological contests, Dr. Kawashima analyzed the situation in relation to the U.S. presidential election. At the end of the session, he answered the questions from participants and discussed the future of U.S.-China, Japan-U.S., and Japan-China relations. It was very meaningful to hear from Dr. Kawashima, who is an expert on the situation in China, about an issue that we cannot take our eyes off of at this moment. The AJS is going to hold a virtual monthly program in July as well.
