3rd Meeting of The Next Generation’s Roundtable in Tokyo
年初めの2020年1月9日、次世代ラウンドテーブル（NGRT）3期の3回目となるミーティングが開催された。今回は、外務省北米局参事官の有馬裕氏にお越しいただいた。
基調講演では、安全保障および経済の観点から、日米関係について、有馬氏の豊富な実務経験をもとに概説いただいた。また、テーブルごとでのディスカッションでは、有馬氏から投げかけられた２つの質問「インド太平洋地域における平和と安全を強化していくために日米はどのように協力することができるか」及び「新たな日米貿易協定をどう評価するか」を軸に活発な議論がみられた。
有馬氏から外交官としての経験や見解を聞くことができ、文化やビジネス、国内政治に至るまでの多様な意見がでた。NGRT参加者にとって学び多き時間となった。
The 3rd meeting of the Next Generation Roundtable (NGRT) the 3rd Round was held on January 8th, as the first event of America Japan Society in 2020. We welcomed Mr. Yutaka Arima, Deputy Director General, North American Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as a speaker. Mr. Arima presented the overview on the US-Japan relationship from the perspective of security and economy with his extensive experience of diplomacy. Then, the lively discussion on tables was followed with two discussion topics: “How can Japan and US together enhance peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region?”; and “How do you evaluate the new Japan-US trade deal?” Through the view shared by Mr. Arima, participants had a fruitful discussion about not only security and economy but also culture, business and internal politics.
