「コロナ・中国・大統領選」久保東大教授・藤崎会長 緊急対談
2020年５月29日、Zoomオンライン会議システムによるライブ配信にて、日米協会の理事でアメリカ政治専門の東京大学法学部 久保文明教授と元駐米大使の藤崎会長による対談を開催した。今世界で注目されているコロナウイルス感染症・米中関係・米国大統領選挙の３つのテーマについてお話いただいた。
コロナウイルスについて、アメリカが世界で最も感染者と死者が多くなってしまった理由や、国内外の政治への影響について話された。また、緊張が高まっている米中関係についての見方や、二国の間に位置する日本が今後どのような姿勢をとるべきかについても議論された。最後に、秋の大統領選挙予測とバイデン氏が当選した場合の日米関係への影響について語られた。
今回は、日米協会としては初のオンライン配信を試み、短い募集期間の中でも多くの方からご参加いただいた。6月の月例会もオンラインで配信予定。
The America-Japan Society organized “AJS Live Online Dialogue” on May 29th, 2020, welcoming Dr. Fumiaki Kubo, Professor of American Government and History at the Graduate School for Law and Politics, the University of Tokyo. Dr. Kubo and President Fujisaki discussed three topics: COVID-19 pandemic in U.S., U.S.-China relations, and Presidential election 2020.
With regard to the COVID-19, America’s COVID-19 death and infection toll are higher than anywhere else in the world. Speakers examined the spread of the virus and the governmental response to the epidemic. Also, coronavirus outbreak further strains U.S,-China relations. Japan’s policy toward U.S.-China relation is addressed by the speakers critically. At last, they predicted the upcoming presidential election, and its possible impacts on U.S.- Japan relationship if Joe Biden wins.
It was the first time live online dialogue program taken place in AJS with a large number of participants. The AJS is going to hold virtual monthly program in June as well.
