The AJS Monthly Program: “The concept of “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and Japan-U.S. alliance
On September 6th, the America-Japan Society held a monthly program, inviting Professor. Yuichi Hosoya, Keio University. “The concept of Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) and the US-Japan alliance” was picked up as the main theme. At the outset, the FOIP was explained as the vision presented by Japan and internationally immersed and supported to unprecedented extent since 1868, followed by the comprehensive and minute analysis on the origin of the concept, formative process and structural elements from various viewpoints in relation to China, the US and even to the Commonwealth and Europe. A lively Q&A session occurred with over 120 participants.
