The 2nd Meeting of The Next Generation’s Round- table in Tokyo 2021-2022
The 2nd meeting of the Next Generation Round Table in Tokyo (NGRT) was held at the Roppongi Hills Club on November 8th, 2021. We invited Mrs. Risa Kamio, a member of a ward assembly in Setagaya with the theme of “Is gender equality possible in Japan?” and discussed the reason why women occupy less in the upper layer and possible solutions that improve the current situation. Some members mentioned that it is essential to eliminate the bias or stereotypes against gender at an individual level, and then to create a scheme of society that accepts new perceptions. It was a valuable time to consider the society that enables us to be compatible with both childcare and work, focusing on the difference of ‘equality’ and ‘equity’, regardless of gender.
