【Lecture】 ‘The American Culture: Baseball and Movies’

The AJS invited Mr. Makio Mukai to give a lecture at White&Case on Thursday, 29th October, 2015.
Mr. Mukai, formerly a pathologist at Keio University Hospital, is a friend of President Fujisaki since junior high school. He is well versed in American culture, and has had his writing on Major League Baseball and American movies serialized in magazines and newspapers.
Throughout the lecture, Mr. Mukai entertained the audience by introducing various kinds of American films, such as ‘The Pride of the Yankees’ and ‘Moneyball’ as 2 movies deeply linked with the US baseball culture, as well as ‘12 Angry Men’ and ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ as two of the most famous.
Mr. Mukai also shared his experiences related to Mount Rushmore and Alvin, Texas, both of which are locations associated with Major League Baseball.
The audience was absorbed in the lecture, taking notes as not to miss any of the movies that were being presented.
