For the April AJS program, the Society invited Professor Kiichi Fujiwara to talk with our president Fujisaki about ongoing U.S. presidential election campaign.
Prof. Fujiwara, as an expert of politics, clearly explained the background of today’s unique situation of U.S. presidential election by concentrating on the change in the recent political situation and consciousness among U.S. citizens. During the question section, a lot of critical questions were made and they got even serious and off-the-record basis talk. About 80 people ranging from university students to experts of the US-Japan relationship participated and there was friendly atmosphere but with stimulating questions from beginning to end.
